I'll be going to NYC this summer some time(would like to know WHEN if Columbia would just figure out her housing); it's my first trip since Africa. I love to people watch too, have a coffee and read. As long as I have a good book, I'm fine.

Oh dear. I'm pretty sure I'm not supposed to enforce stereotypes against my own fellow countrymen, but "a French man who's not happy about something" sounds a little bit like a pleonasm.

I really hate it when I'm flying to France and there are French people at the airport annoyingly complaining about something or other -- which, frankly, who doesn't complain about something or other in an airport before an at best 12 hours flight? -- and it makes me feel all, wait, we haven't left yet and you already make me feel like France is overrated anyway?

Like this one time when there was an annoying guy in the train from Roissy to Paris, and I yelled at him that I was supposed to be enjoying my being back in the country I had missed so much and instead I was tired and jet lagged and my back was hurting and there was an asshole in the train so will you shut up already?

Is my comment longer than your post and only vaguely related to it? Quite possibly.

Just thinking about it..traveling by plane, stresses me. It's no fun at all. Where'd the fun go.
But welcome to this side of the pond comme même :)

Bienvenue parmi nous !
Tu reviens en pleine période d'agitation sociale, tous les français râlent ! Un vrai plaisir...

I agree. My last few flights have not been fun at all and they were domestic, short flights. It seems like they are always overbooked and/or delayed. I have have a few delayed flights that caused me to miss a connecting flight and then the whole day is screwed up. Meh.

You are right. Traveling ain't funny anymore. All US airlines are driving down the business standards to raise instant profits. Most of them will shut down running out of clients before even running out of gas. Flying should be still part of the journey dream for those of you who travel a few times a year.
I travel year round, thus going on vacations is everything but heading to the airport for me. Do I hate noisy airports PA and nasty crew members? YES!!

Jean

While we are on the subject...
Being annoyed while asleep by a rude flight attendant for a delightful plastic tray of pet food relabelled smart or healthy food, served with a free glass of reverse-osmosis water that taste like garbage is always an unforgettable experience. Happens to me every single flight overseas.
Add to that a couple of (often American, sorry) oxymorons that feel the necessity to share out loud their miserable, uninteresting and often forged lives for a mere 4 to 8 hours, and you have a flavor of modern air travel.
Flying sucks since uneducated flight attendants are unable to maintain some decency and enforce social behavior in the livestock section (the economy class).
Bon vol vers Paris et bon séjour en France.

waaahh-mbulance. Hahahahaha!!!
