Dear Lady In The SUV Trying To Pull In The Parking Lot Which I Was Leaving,
Perhaps if you had had both hands on your steering wheel, instead of one on the wheel and the other on your cell phone, you would have been able to make your turn without waiting for me to pull out. Really, I wasn't in the middle of the parking lot entrance. I wasn't blocking you in my little Honda Civic. And I took a risk leaving the parking lot when I did, because it was hard for me to see around your large vehicle.
Next time, SUV Lady, hang up your damn phone and just drive.
Sincerely,
Alison
EDIT: I don't have anything against SUVs per se. I realize they can be useful automobiles. I just can't see around or through them!

P.S. - Trade in your SUV for a car with a tighter turning radius and maybe you'll be able to maneuver better should you not want to hang up your phone.

Good point, Cath. But I still don't believe in talking on a cell while driving! ;-)

Cell phone calls in cars are horrible, and text messages on those same phones - there isn't a word for them.
Glad you're ok

I think that might have been the same lady who cut me and Thomas off at the north-bound New Circle / Tates Creek on-ramp lane earlier today. She just shot her way in front of me after I'd been sitting waiting in line a good ten minutes. If Thomas and I hadn't been watching, I'd have hit her ... :(

YES, AMEN. I have a medium sized SUV, but don't drive and talk. I barely even remember to put in my blue tooth.

And why do owners of ginormous SUVs and pick-up trucks feel the need to park in the first or last space of a row, so that folks trying to pull out of row need to creep out well into traffic to even possibly see if there are cars coming?
The end spots of rows should be reserved for cars only. Little cars. Like those sub-compact spaces in parking garages (where people with huge SUVs park anyway ...).

I've always said that there should be separate, but equal, parking spaces for SUVs/pick-up trucks and for sedans/motorcycles. All that needs to be done is divide up the parking lots vertically away from the store fronts so that each category has its own row. Seems simple and obvious to me.
Sorry this happened to you.

There about to be a law.....

A SUV masking your visibility is not as bad as the insurance companies masking the reality of (and lobbyig against) the public health service that works well in number of western countries.
It may be worth a few lines in your blog since you also have long-term experience of another country's healthcare system, isn't it?

Dear SUV Man Who Also Sucks and Wouldn't Get Off His Cell Phone,
You had a stop sign. I didn't. Thanks for almost killing me and ruining my teeny little hatchback. Also for taking clean air away from kids that I don't have.

Wow, the new Typepad kinda sucks at letting me know I have comments. And since I don't blog much anymore, I never think to check here to look.
Anyway, Jean, I'm not sure I could do the subject justice.
Amber, xx.
