Writers need to read. Every writer knows it. I've been absorbing books lately. I'd say I was devouring them, but that seems like a cliché, doesn't it? It's apt, however. I'm ravenous for stories.
I'm in the middle of rereading the Austin Family Chronicles by Madeleine L'Engle, who's one of my favorite authors. I loved her Wrinkle In Time books as a teen, and was comforted by The Summer of The Great-Grandmother when I was a new mother. That sweet child of mine is now fourteen, and the Austin Family books are hers; they were a Christmas gift, and she left them here.
It's been 25 years since I've read these books, and they're still relevant. In fact, these books are 40+ years old, but it doesn't matter. Only a few things seem dated. The interactions and relationships are still fresh, but human nature doesn't change much, does it?
I remember the characters well, and I'm pleased to be spending time with them again.
Who are you spending time with these days?

Wrinkle in Time is one of my favorite books ever! Right now I'm reading White Tiger for Book Club and Robert B. Parker for fun. Since it's Friday night, I'm also spending time with some lovely Hef.

Ali,
I've been spending time inside my car.
On the other hand, I've also been reading real books voraciously.
Blogging has taken a hit since the change in my work venue.
Recently, I joined Facebook to enable me to see the photos of a compatriot's son's wedding. I'm not sure that Facebook will replace blogging for me. As you say writers write.

Don't ask why, but I am rereading "Sim Greene and Tom the Tinker's Men," the memoirs of David Froman, an eyewitness to the Whiskey Rebellion.

I just read "The Complete Polysyllabic Spree" by Nick Hornby and laughed constantly throughout. It also gave me a list of about twenty other books to read, because it's about two years in his reading life. Excellent!

I actually just rec'd a new-old copy of 'And Both Were Young' by L'Engle. I adored that book, although I only remember reading one of the Austin books... didn't they go to the Grand Canyon on a camping trip?
