Via Loulou on Facebook, I got this:
Hey, it's great that big-time websites are touting the rosé. It means that we can get past The Bane That Is White Zinfandel.
But I have to say, I was on this three years ago. See here (a reprint of a wine blogger) and here. And never mind that I was drinking rosé from my first summer in France (in 1992, holy crap), and fully embraced it every spring and summer during the time I lived there. It's just part of the warm weather rituals there.
These days I'll choose a Spanish or South American rosé over a French one, because the prices are better. My favorite local wine shop doesn't have any rosé in yet, but I've been drinking a South American Malbec rosé that I found at the liquor store down the street, and it's most delicious.
What's your favorite wine, if you drink it?
*Haha.
**Also, I have been sitting on this entry for FOUR days. The blog mojo. It is fleeting.

I've always liked a good rosé. It's one of the first wines I ever had and what I keep coming back to.

Interestingly, for a girl born in the South of France, I don't like rosé all that much. I favor Riesling above about any other wine (at least when drunk on its own; it wouldn't go very well with, say, steak). And for the warm weather ritual, send the Muscat my way (although I haven't had it in years, because it's impossible to find here).

I just had a lovely Francis Ford Coppola Encyclopedia Malbec. It was wonderful with an pecan-crusted goat cheese and asparagus salad (Mother's Day +1 dinner out). I also tried a wine from Oregon-Blue Moon? Nice, light and fruity red. I love reds, but I like the rose as well. I'll have to try your picks as I've been limited to the Red Bicyclette.

You're way ahead of all of us!
I am into Malbecs right now.

I've been exploring Portuguese Vinho Verdes but am not far enough along to have a favorite to share. I suspect they drink the really good stuff and export the rest. In fact, only something like 10% is exported so I'm thinking this calls for a field trip.

I am currently sipping an exquisite vintage Coke Zero, Atlanta March '09. Magnificent bouquet, superb taste. I buy it by the case!

Rosé definitely is part of the warm weather culture in France.
And we embrace it with glee!

Be careful to buy authentic Rosé wine and not rosé wine that's made from a blend of white and red wines.
The EU wants to open up the classification of rosé wine to include blends.

The one with the cute bird on the label. (Just kidding.) Actually, my go-to favorite wine for a while now has been Nero D'Avola (from Sicily)and my most recent favorite is Concannon Petite Sirah.

I'm with ya--I hate white zin. In fact, the first time I was served rose, that first glorious summer in France, I thought it was the same as the crappy wine I had tried in the States. Imagine my surprise when I tried it, perfectly chilled, served out in the garden alongside a brick fired pizza. It's really the only wine that goes with pizza.
Since leaving France, the trouble has been, like Dedene says, finding a true rose and not a blend. The real thing is just the best summer drink.

I LOVE rosé :) here's some of my local favorites:
Puy des Arts
Ste Philomène
Château Bas
Petit Sonnailer
Roi René...our local cave co-op
Yum yum, now I'm thirsty.

I don't drink much rosé, but maybe because it's always frickin' freezin' in Aveyron and when it starts to get hot, I leave for the PNW, where it is...you get the idea. But I have tasted some great ones over the past years nonetheless.
Give me anything with the word Viognier in it.
