This afternoon I planted some herbs we bought the other day into hanging "baskets." The rosemary seems to be best suited for the situation. It's already living up to its name.
In the rosemary planter, I also put chives and lime thyme. (Can I get a hoo-rah for assonance?)
Heheh, she said "ass."
In the other pot I planted cilantro, lime basil, and tarragon.
Yes, I have a thing for lime. I put the dill and spearmint in their own separate pots.
I've already made a chive vinaigrette, and I've got mint water chilling in the fridge. Here's to a summer full of fresh food and fresh herbs!

Lovely, sounds wonderful. We got some more herbs yesterday and are currently up to dill, thyme, mint and rosemary with basil, parsley and coriander/cilantro (had to look that up when I got my Moosewood book) planted yesterday and hopefully germinating soon. I'm also experimenting to see if I can grow carrots, lettuce, cucumbers and tomatoes in pots on our patio but not sure we get enough sun.

That sounds delish. I'm getting worried that I haven't planted my crop of basil yet... can you say pesto??
Also, I thought of you last night. There was a segment on NPR about a prof from Carnegie Mellon who is studying Pittsburghese - and how it seems to be dying out. :-(

I really want to plant some herbs on my kitchen window ledge. I gotta get on that!

I wonder how to make a detour to Lexington going from Gaithersburg to Bethesda or the other way around?

I had a nice rosemary plant in the backyard and it died off. It's one of my favorite herbs -- I should try again. Nice photo.

What a great idea. I don't use many herbs, but I probably would if I had them around.

"pepper, salt, sugar and tarragon were hanging by the pool. mortar bricks and aluminum. step one, figure two." - lemonheads :)
i love lime stuff, too. have you had the pleasure of trying the lime tostitos? i think that's the brand of corn/nacho chip that comes in a lime flavor. it is AWESOME with and without salsa. just yummy.

I love fresh herbs - I made a fresh chive vinaigrette today too! I also love different kinds of mint - I think I have 5 kinds one of which is chocolate and if you chop it up and put it in a tea ball with hot chocolate can I just say that it's AMAZING.

Yeah! Rosemary does really well here. It grows to shrub size if you let it and makes the whole yard smell amazing on damp mornings. I am trying to get some basil going too, but it doesn't seem all that excited about life. Too bad. It's my favorite.

You said 'ass' and rhymed. This was a great post. Can I get a 'Way to go??'
;-)
