In about an hour I'm going to a bikram yoga class. Some of you may remember that I've done this before. Some of you may also remember that it kicked my ass.
So why am I doing it again? Here are my reasons, in no particular order:
- Because I'm a cheapskate. The yoga studio is holding a challenge: complete 29 classes in 30 days. If you succeed, the studio refunds your $60. That's a great deal, either way.
- Because I'm out of shape and need to do something about it.
- Because I'm hurtling toward 40, and you know, my health and all that.
- Because 90 minutes of bikram yoga burns a shitload of calories.
- Because I want to feel like a MILF again.
I'm both terrified and excited. Terrified because I remember feeling like an exhausted noodle after doing this before. Excited because I'm eager to see what kind of changes happen in my body and mind.
So, I'll keep you posted. That is, if the yoga doesn't kill me.
POST-YOGA UPDATE: Well! That wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. I only sat out of the second set of two poses, which is better than I did two months ago. I do rather feel like I got hit by a truck. This will all pass after the third class, supposedly.
Oh, and I took photos this morning. There will be a Before and After.

When I'm done cooking this kid, I'm going to look into this!

It won't kill you, and you'll be amazed at what can change in a month. Good for you!!! I wish Lexington was closer... I'd go with you, 'cause it's always best if you can bring along an akward friend. (I'll be playing the part of akward friend, of course.)

I would have been the awkward friend, except it kicked my ass the last time we tried to do it.
That was enough for me.

You did it!! I'm so proud of you!! So, here we go, day one...How does it feel?

that's a good challenge they set up. i wish a yoga studio here would do that. though not the hot yoga. i'd die in hot yoga. go you!

you're brave - i'm terrified of Bikram. i would like to try it one day, but the idea of so many sweaty people in such close proximity to me kinda freaks me out. i'm a wuss.
sweet deal that your gym is running, though. good luck!

w00T! Only 28 more to go! You can do it!

Yowsa. That's a challenge indeed. I've walked into a yoga studio directly after a Bikram class has let out and the wall of moist heat that hits you is enough to keep me away. I get plenty of that here in Chicago in August. :) Good luck to you!
BTW--diggin' the new banner.

am I the only one who has to ask what a MILF is?
Posted by: barb | February 15, 2008 at 22:35
Yoga is something I've been thinking about doing for a while now. I think I'm finally in a place where I have the time and inclination to do it. Not sure which kind it will be, but I'll let you know.
Keep up the good work... as long as it's making you feel better about yourself, and you're enjoying it, it's worth doing.

To barb :
Yes you are ...
Mother I'd Like to Fuck
Posted by: kikikentucky | February 18, 2008 at 00:00
whoa. you used MILF. i forget what it stands for in the strange abbreviated american lingo these days, but i think it's something about being a mother that people like to fuck or something.
anyway, i can still not quite get over this acronym. in the philippine context it stands for Moro Islamic Liberation Front. and it just cracks me up and disturbs me at the same time to hear and read about US women being MILF. how far from the truth that is.
