School's canceled here today. For this Pennsylvania girl, it seems pretty redonkulous to close the schools for an inch or two of snow, but that's the way it is here. I guess the country roads outside Lexington can get pretty treacherous. Better safe than sorry.
The snow is lovely in the sunlight, sunlight we haven't seen in about a week. In a few minutes I'll pull on my yoga clothes and head to my thirteenth class.
This morning I'm wishing more than usual that the kids lived here. Snow is a real treat for them, and I know they'd be outside already. Okay maybe not already, as it's not even 9:00. But I know they'd be out playing in the snow at some point. I know they'd come in to warm up. I know I'd bark "Get in or get out!" — yet I'd be smiling on the inside. I'd make real hot chocolate.
I can see their red cheeks and smell the cold in their hair. And when they asked me to go outside with them, I'd do it.

aww. i want them to live there with you, too.
and i want real hot chocolate.

Hah, it's worse here in Charleston. We get measurable snow maybe once every five years and then it's only a tenth to a quarter of an inch, yet they cancel school anyway.

Awwww...
We have had 18 inches in the last two days. The kids can barely walk in it today, but they had a blast yesterday. I made real hot chocolate. They preferred Swiss Miss. I told them they were Communists. ;)

What Rebecca said! We never had masses of snow when I was a kid (it doesn't take a lot for Britain to grind to a halt), just enough for a bit of sledging.

It's all relative eh? We'll get a foot an hour all night, and they won't cancel school--even if we have to slip and slide all the way there. The last time they cancelled school here, it had snowed 5 or 6 feet in one day and the weight broke a bunch of power lines, causing blackouts. THAT's what it takes to bring us down in the Rockies!!
You should bring the kids here--they'd get enough snow for their lifetimes! And I'd have you making real hot chocolate by the gallon.
(:

I would love to have more snow, but it's warmed up a lot here. Snow(as long as there isn't too much of it or if it stays around too long) is magical.

Did you notice how school wasn't cancelled very often in France? Sometimes my daughters haven't been able to go because we live on the outskirts, but school carries on...
We didn't get any in Aveyron this winter, although I guess officially it isn't too late. Once it snowed a foot on Easter Monday!

oh, Ali
Bunches of hugs..
They close down here if it snows, well.. it's almost always sleet. Our back roads are treacherous for the school buses..The kids love the day off too. Whenever they hear that it might snow, they always sleep with the PJ's on backwards.. I think it's some sort of ritual that is "supposed" to make it snow..lol
It's funny when they do.. They get so silly and excited..
I hope you get to enjoy the snow.. Drink that hot cocoa..mmmmm good!
