Bullets:
- Emptied my two squares in our coffee table. (There are four square compartments underneath the glass; they're hard to see in that photo.)
- Filed papers (albeit somewhat haphazardly) so that they are no longer in the coffee table
- Moved a lot of my crap to the basement.
- Cleaned up the mess my kids left on the table down there.
- Yeah, it's only been a month since they left.
- Hung my kids' art on some walls.
- Made crème fraîche in anticipation of making a terrine. I found the recipe in this article, which was very interesting since the author traveled to the Ile de Ré, and that's just off the coast of La Rochelle, where I lived for ten years. Here's an article about Ré in the NYT Archives. I do love La Rochelle and its environs.
- Made Alton Brown's macaroni and cheese. Holy. Crap.
- Cleaned off the sideboard in the dining room.
- Got a care package ready to mail to my kiddos.
- There might be more, but I can't remember it.
- Point is, I got a lot done today, and it's a good thing.
- Oh yeah. I avoided answering e-mails. Like, all weekend.

I always feel better when I can get lots done. That hasn't been the case lately--or what I've done has been quickly undone. (aka house cleaning. organizing, etc...)

Gittin' shite done is good. No matter. Just do it.
Oops. Did I violate a copyright?.

My husband has a huge man crush on Alton Brown. He really is unbelievable. If you ever get a chance, look up and make his potstickers. They are fan-freakin-tastic.

Hmmm. How do you make creme fraiche?
Also, I had not thought about macaroni and cheese in a very long time, but I may try that Alton Brown recipe as soon as the days get a bit cooler.

Alton Brown's Mac and Cheese is the stuff of which dreams and heart attacks are made. Yum Yum!
(Try his turkey in brine recipe this year. It's well worth the extra time.)

Alton Brown is one of my many heroes. Norm Abram is #1.

I've copied the baked macaroni and cheese recipe. Sounds tasty. If I ever cook from scratch again I'm going to try it.

I'd love some homemade mac and cheese.
The wife doesn't eat cheese.
Sigh.
