Yesterday I did a little happy dance for Picture Fool Sally, as I like to call her. You see, Sally just...well...go read it yourself.
Today we went to Old Navy to exchange a pair of yoga pants I'd bought last week. I'd tried on an XL, and they seemed to fit, so I bought two pairs. Oops. They're too big, but I didn't realize it until I wore one of the pairs. I mean, during my workout I had to HOLD THE PANTS UP. (Then I washed and dried them, thinking that might help. It didn't. I still have to hold them up).
So we went to exchange the other pair. It's usually fatal when we go to Old Navy, and we didn't leave with just a smaller size of yoga pant, oh no.
Just beyond the cash registers was a table with some cotton sweaters, new! since last week. I cracked (as the French say) for the purple one, but there were only four left, none in XXL, which is the size top I'm comfortable with at Old Navy. It's the story of my life there: the Color I Love is never available in the Size I Need.
Or so I thought.
The sweaters only seemed to go up to XL. Okay. I tried on the white XL, aware that I really didn't want a white sweater. It was too big.
I looked at the purple grape jelly ones. There was one L. I tried it on. It looked good. Holy crap!
Can you say "buoyed'?
I went looking for some cheap! t-shirts to put underneath. I don't know how I missed it last week, but there was a table of "perfect fit" t-shirts, $10.50 a piece, or 2 for $10.
A couple of months ago I bought two of these t-shirts (white and maroon candy apple, because they didn't have that lovely light pink or salmon dahlia red in my size). People, I bought size XXL because that was the only thing that I thought skimmed my flab in the best way. (Ladies, you know that means it covered up every blessed inch of it).
Buoyed as I was, I took an XL t-shirt and tried it on. And tucked it into my jeans. Hmm. I got an L. And that was much better.
It would seem as if the exercise is paying off. Also, I've been on a diet these past three weeks (she said, as she sipped her wine, -ed.), so that has made a difference, too. AND, just this week, I've started walking a two-mile circuit with Allan on my Curves off-days.
This is encouraging. I was beginning to think I'd be stuck with the Zoloft 40 forever. So, GO SALLY! And go, me!
PS: If you need a pair of black Old Navy yoga pants, size XL, worn and washed twice, let me know. First come, first served.

You sound just like me. I always bought sizes way too big to cover everything up. I have also realized that a "little" smaller does look better.

Yay, hooray! There is nothing, I think, more heartening for any of us trying to lose weight than the next smaller size of pants. Woohoo!

That's great! I'm glad it was a wonderful surprise, and not anything you expected. My pants, on the other hand, are feeling a bit tighter. Hmmm...

Is this your 4 month anniversary of the Curves? Isn't that when your SIL said it'd start paying off? OK, personally, I think it's the walking or maybe the shopping sprees at Old Navy. I mean trying this on, taking that off, trying this on again, turn, look in mirror, turn again. It's a tough, exhausting job, but someone's got to buy all them clothes! Hee-hee!

Right on! I don't know why, but I'm always surprised and delighted when exercise, you know, works. Like, I did this?

I haven't been in an Old Navy in ages. Sounds like they've got some good stuff again. Glad that you're exercise plan is working for you. Nothing like shifting down a size to feel good about things.

They look comfy! I have never bought their clothes. Maybe I will try these. Congrats on the weight loss!

Outstanding! I am proud of you. And I do need some XL yoga pants for tai chi, thankyouverymuch! Now, how do I lose the weight again?

i have banned old navy from my life b/c of the jeans. i too have gone to old navy, tried something on (jeans) thought they fit, only to find out they were too big. washed, dried the jeans because we all know they shrink. nope. they stretched. i too had to hold my jeans up. i was an unhappy jeorg. very unhappy. so now i curse the old navy for not having shrinking jeans but stretchin jeans.
but congrats. the hard work is paying off. feel good about yourself.

I've been out of pocket this weekend and just had a chance to check in on you. Thanks for the cheerleading! I ended up heading to JC Penney for some nicely priced SIZE 14 jeans, too. Now there are two size 14's in my closet! Size 12 here I come!
Congratulations to you for having to exchange your yoga pants. What a great feeling it is! Yay you!

We have an OLD NAVY near us, and I never go in. Maybe I should try a bit of shopping there. I love comfortable clothes.
Cas
Enjoy your walk.

I'm down 13 lbs.
I pick up a sack of dog food in order to realize exactly what that means.
I just wish I could see it.
Anyway, woo hoo to you!

Bravo!

YAY!! That's rad! I have found that sometimes we stick with the larger sizes because that is what we are used to, but it pays to try on the smaller ones. You never know!! I have lost a couple pounds, but mostly just from walking a dog 4 days a week a couple of hours a pop.. and eating a little less. I still haven't gone back to the gym. I decided against Curves, because sometimes I just want to get on an exercise bike or ellipical and go. I want that option...:)
