A few of my cherished Constant Readers mentioned Counting Crows in reference to the cat's name.
Um, how to be diplomatic about this?
Let me put it to you gently: we are not fans of Counting Crows. Adam Duritz's voice makes my skin crawl, so their song Mr. Jones — thanks for the link, cmhl — is not even on my radar. (Maybe that wasn't very diplomatic. You know, the skin crawling thing).
No, Mr. Jones-the-cat got his name from a different source.
"The name's Jones, Fuckhead Jones."
"Good evening, Mr. Jones."
We were overwhelmed by suggestions for the cat's name. We couldn't decide! One day, kitty did something we didn't like, and one of us called him "Fuckhead."
I know. It's not very nice, is it?
We called him Fuckhead a few more times. Because we'd seen the name somewhere on the interwebosphere, it morphed into Fuckhead Jones. Allan tells folks the cat prefers to go by "Mr. Jones," and I do believe it's true.
There you have it. Nothing to do with Adam Duritz's whining or any other cultural reference, other than a goofy username on the Internet.

Now that you've cleared that up, we can return to the UN. On the other hand, do you have any more detailed information on his regal lineage?

I still love that name...

OK, got it. Sorry to have jumped on the Counting Crows bandwagon. We all have our musical tastes, and singers that some people worship, I can't stomach. I have great admiration for Bob Dylan, and I find him a singer/songwriter of exceptional sensibility and talent, but his voice does grate on me big time (still, I do own quite a bit of his music.)
And it comes through loud and clear in your message that you definitely hate Adam Duritz and his whiny voice.
And I agree that Mr. Jones is still a great name. Although "Fuckhead Jones" is quite cool too.

Maybe it could be Dr. Jones, as in Indiana Jones!
Then, when he's begging for love, you can use the line Clerks made... um... less than obscure (famous was too strong): "No time for love, Dr. Jones!"

I used to date one of the Counting Crows. I've met the real Mr. Jones. He looks nothing like your cat, who I will only refer to as Biscuit.

Aw, I kinda like Fuckhead.
When my son was 3, he started calling people "Fuckinhead". I never said that in my life, I swear.
