Both the kids had cereal for breakfast this morning, albeit at different times. I handed them the gallon jug of skim milk without thinking too much about it.
The 8-year old said "Mom! Who put water in the milk?"
Later, the 11-year old said "Mom, why is the milk transpaaarent?"

kids are the first to notice any and everything. :)

Je suis d'accord avec tes enfants.

How true! MInd you I've seen les briques rouges at their house in France, so you know what that means... whole -fricking-frackin milk! Holy fat Batman! Whole milk to skim milk, ah, major difference.
I suppose you'll have to get that 1/2 % or 2 % stuff for them now! cute!

Does the French government know that you are forcing these children to eat skim milk and cereal? You may have to get the ingredients translated by a government approved translator. Something needs to be done here in triplicate. Please see a local diplomate immediately.

I take it that skim milk isn't too common in their home town.

*lol* I'm with them - whole milk is milk.

Cassie, it's not that it's not common, it's that their dad buys them whole milk.

True, skim milk is like water. It took me literally years to get used to it when my husband and I decided to switch from whole to skim milk in the early 80's.
But the reverse phenomenon is interesting too. My daughter - who has never known anything in her entire life but breast and skim milk - could never drink whole milk. Of course, the point is now moot since she is a staunch vegan (which I think is not an easy thing to be in France.)
So, your kids eat cereal? Which is the one of their choice?

Oh, what I wouldn't give for some skim milk!! Those damn UHF bricks always taste funny to me - I can't drink just a glass of plain old milk anymore.

My oldest thinks American milk is funny, too! She's been plugging her nose while drinking it, saying it tastes okay, but doesn't smell good like that weird boxed french milk.

My Father still won't use skim milk, insists that it's "gray" (which it sort of does look). He and my Stepmother keep two different containers of milk in their fridge, skim for her, 2% for him.

so 2% isn't whole milk as i thought all along??
never liked milk. i've always been into water, even as a kid. but do do skim on my cereal.
