I've won a major award, folks. (You have to click on the link to see what I am talking about, because it's not a fishnet stocking-clad lamp).
Friday or Saturday is my measuring day at Curves, so I will have some numbers to report, I hope. I'm mostly enjoying the exercise. There is that one moment during my circuit where I groan and think "I'll never finish," but fortunately it doesn't last. And? There is a difference in my body. I can tell. It's a good feeling.
Other snippets of interesting information:
- No, I still haven't done any tweaking for the IE users out there. The main point of that post was to convert you laggers-behind to Firefox (unless, of course, you are reading my blog at work, in which case
shame on youyou really shouldn't be installing adifferentbetter browser). I know some of you Safari users have the same problem as the IE users. I think I know the cause, but it's a button that I don't really want to remove from my sidebar. So I've been procrastinating about messing with it.
- Your responses to my entry about the linky love were interesting. Basically, it boils down to this: my links will almost always open in a new window. But many of you will use the right-click feature to have the links open the way you want them to. I'm cool with that.
- I learned a new word today: passim. Yes, I am editing something. Yes, it is a labor of love. I love my brother, and I am working on his thesis. Anyway, I knew about ibid and idem, see and cf., but passim was new to me. Now I hope it'll stick in my head, because praxis sure hasn't.
- Now you tell me about a word you've learned recently, okeedokes?

Today I learned "randomization"... And that's only because I had it on my final exam. I didn't know what does it mean ;)

You're right. I'm gonna stop reading your blog while I'm at work.
;)
Hmmmm. New word?
When my wife asked our three year old what she wanted for breakfast a couple of days ago, the reply was that she felt "breadish."
Does that count?

what's the part at curves where you groan? i wonder if it was the same point i used to groan at?

I'm glad that you have kept it going for a monthy, and even better, that you're feeling better, and that it's making a difference. Keep it going, make exercising a part of your life. don't stop. It'll pay huge dividends when you get older, like 50.
A new word. Disintermediation, a financial term. Hint, I'll bet you'd blog about it.

Monty,
I love when you talk dirty.

actually, it's not the no-ad blog thing that messed up your site in IE. It looked ok for awhile after that.
I had the same problem with mine - but it's Wordpress, and I have full access to the CSS to fix it. I never figured out what caused it to throw the navigation to the bottom, but I messed with the widths until it looked ok again.

If you were an American teacher, you'd know what Praxis means! It's the stupid test you have to take in some states before they let you teach. The first one is super easy (just to make sure you can read and add) but costs at least $100. The second one is your subject test, which is super hard. And it costs even more. Not nice for struggling college kids.

I recently learned the word "hoss" though I'm still not sure how to use it.

is that the button "Radio Paradize"? - it could be diminuished by a graphic programm - but maybe that would diminuish paradize for you - not that I care about the white space on the right - may I convert & put your blog in my fave list of firefox (I hope I don't get expelled then by the other party)

FWIW, I'm seeing the sidebar correctly in Safari now. Perhaps the Safari issue, at least, was a Typepad blip.

I need some biceps--quick! Do I have to work for them?

You know why I like the word passim? It's an adverb without the -ly. Fancy.
Re: Bonnaroo...the mosquitos weren't so bad, and the heat was manageable, but I keep catching mysterious whiffs of that Bonnaroo scent. It will continue to haunt me in my nightmares.

I had too much to eat for dinner... I feel "soggy".

Woohoo! Way to go. My sister did Curves for a little while. Sure wish I could get her back there. Are you bothered by the founder's charitable donations? Is that even an issue anymore? Since it is local (sort of) we heard all about it. I think a bunch of people in California quit. Which hurt the franchise owners most of all, most of whom were women. But that was several years ago, I think. Or several months. Never have been very good with details!

Congratulations on your award! And all the hard work you're doing too at Curves! That's cool Alison :)
I managed to fix my Firefox problem so I can honestly say there is no reason really for people to NOT drop IE. hehehe
Can't think of a new word....I'm sure there is one but the mind is blank right now.

Firefox from the very first version, and still Firefox. Why use anything else?
IMHO, Firefox is not (new word that appeared in some work I am doing)
FUNGIBLE.

Oh this is freaky, but last week I learned the word "praxis." Really. I'd not heard of it but saw it in an article and thought I'd better look it up.
The universe works in mysterious ways, indeed.

Oh yes, the exercise. Bravo!
Keep up the good work, the curves will appear.

Backwardation. No, really, its a word. I thought for sure someone had made it up, but then I looked it up and it is the financial theory that says futures prices will tend to rise over the life of a contract. who knew?

Awesome job on winning the award. Don't you love when your hard work shows? I do. You're making me want to join Curves, and I am a procrastinator, so you'll have to work on me some more.
My sister and I made up a word (I think) when we were growing up. Jahunga. As in, "I need to hurry up and join Curves because my thighs are jahunga."

Unbeknownst to the general populace, I created, honed and disbursed into the unwitting world the word "Guesstimate." Not as reliable as an estimate, not as random as a guess. As in, "When will Alison email you about a comment you left? I'm not sure, but my best guesstimate is 33 minutes, give or take half an hour."
It's not as viral as "supposibly", but close.

You know eventually we're all going to want before and after photos -- in a bikini. I'm sure Allan will enjoy that photography assignment.
