The other day I mentioned that my "measuring day" was coming up at Curves. Well, this morning I got weighed and measured. The 24th of each month is my day.
I gained two pounds. And a quarter-inch on my waist. What??!! I said I must be bloated, and my measurer said, "It's a possibility. Also, your body doesn't quite know what's happening to it." The only place that got smaller was my bicep. Go, biceps!
Then we did the body fat percentage. I dropped almost four percentage points, people. During my workout, the woman came up to me and said, "This ought to make you happy. You've lost five pounds of body fat. Do you want a star on the wall?"
So I got a gold star today.

YAY!

That's awesome... it makes me want to join too! You probably know this already, but muscle weighs more than fat, so that could be why you gained.

That's awesome, Ali! Yeah, it's disheartening for the scale and the measurements to go up, but when that BMI goes down? WOO HOOOOOOO!!!!!!!

I think I can keep counting here. Your body fat dropped, your muscles are bigger and stronger, and you still sneer with the best of them. OK, now that you have your star on the wall, it's time to get another one so the first star doesn't get lonely. And now you have stories to tell the kids! "I was really straining during this exercise, but I persisted, and now I can do it!"

This is the most disheartening part of working out without the support of a program like Curves. As I've said over and over again on my blog... I KNOW I'm losing fat but I'm gaining muscle and toning areas of my body and the scale is not my friend at all. Stay the course and get more stars on the wall! Go Alison!

Great news! Congrats :) Yep, it's definitely muscle instead of fat. So be happy! This is a good thing :)

You told me this last week, but ah, it hit home when I weighed myself this morning. I'm up in weight (we won't share numbers here) and I've been out running and walking and swimming everyday since you left. *sigh* I know there has to be another explanation besides the rosé. I just know it!
This entry picked up my spirits, even if I don't have a personal trainer to measure various parts of my anatomy (biceps, % of fat...)
Go Biceps!
