My kids are here with me, exceptionellement on a Friday evening. They should be going to school tomorrow, but since I'm leaving for the States on Sunday, their dad and I decided to bend the rules a bit.
At 6:30 my daughter said she wanted to cook. I said "Dinner's cooked*; I did it earlier." She said, "I want to make something. I want to make a yogurt cake."
Yogurt cake is like the best invention ever, because you use the empty yogurt cup as a measuring tool. It's a classic cake here in France. I had my first gateau au yaourt about two or three months after I moved here in early 1993.
I said to C., "Okay, but I can't remember the proportions."
I knew where to look, though. Clotilde posted an entry today about yogurt cake with blueberries. I didn't have frozen blueberries. But I did have frozen fruits rouges, a mix of currants, raspberries, cherries and blueberries, and we used those. The cake turned out great. We ate it warm with vanilla ice cream.
* I didn't follow this recipe. I used the recipe I found on the package (Spécial Potée!) of ham hock and sausage I bought. It called for cabbage, leeks, carrots, turnips, garlic, bouquet garni, and garlic.

What size yogurt cup?

125 ml, or 4 ounces. That is the standard size in France.
An 8-ounce cup of yogurt would work fine, because you could eyeball the amount of oil. (the recipe requires only half a cup of that).
Clotilde's post today links back to her original recipe for the yogurt cake. I followed it, but I omitted the rum. And I didn't measure the amount of frozen fruit I put in.

Thanks. That's cool because I have been buying 12 packs of Dannon in 4 oz. cups lately.
Maybe we can do some baking while you are here.
