T, age (almost) 8: Mom, can I have cake for breakfast?
Me: Um, no. It has a lot of sugar in it. (But I was thinking of the Bill Cosby sketch in which "Dad is great! Give us the chocolate cake!")
T: But we had cake last weekend with daddy!
Me: What?
T: We had pancakes!
Me: [laughter]
T: What? It's cake. Same thing.
Me: [still laughing] Okay, but drink a glass of milk with it.

Il a raison.
