Last night I made my world-famous peach melba sangria. It is delicious when it is first made, but it turns the most gorgeous color after a few hours in the fridge. This time I let it macerate for a whole day.
I fudged on the quantities, as usual:
Dry white wine (I used a Bordeaux blanc)
Triple sec
White peaches
Raspberries (I used frozen; they're more readily available and cheaper)
I
pitted and sliced three peaches into my IKEA pitcher. I doused the
peaches with triple sec (not too much, though) and poured enough wine
to cover the fruit. Then I put in 10 or so frozen raspberries. I
stirred it gently, covered it, and let it sit in the fridge overnight. Before I poured a glass, I filled the pitcher up with sparkling water, and stirred again.
You'll want to experiment; this can be lighter or stronger, depending on the quantities of wine and water you use. Also, raspberries are fragile. They tend to disintegrate, so if you serve this for company, you can add them at the last minute. The sangria won't be such a pretty color, though.
Santé!
PS: I originally wrote this in Flickr, that's where the photos are, but couldn't add links, and when I wanted to do it here, had some trouble. So I deleted the post and pasted the text into Typepad. Here is the photo I meant to include.

Oh. My. Gord.
That looks delicious.

Yum! I would invite myself over, but you're in frickin' FRANCE! Oh, well, I'll just have to make some myself. Wonder if I'll be able to find those super sweet white peaches here in Kansas. The tomatoes are beautiful, too.
Hope you are feeling better!

My current favorite sangria is pineapple. Started as a complete accident. Opened a bottle of wine (red) that I really didn't care for but felt like drinking anyway so decided to make sangria out of it. But then I realized that I didn't have any fresh fruit so looked in the cupboard and found a can of pineappple in heavy syrup. Well I just knew it was going to be awful because I never EVER use canned fruit. Turned out great. I also used some Triple Sec and lots of sugar - I like mine really sweet.
I'll have to try your recipe. I like to serve sangria at parties - so much easier than mixing drinks.

Oooh. Sounds good!
Next time I make it I'm going to use white wine, triple sec, and limes. And maybe a bit of fresh ginger.

And I agree with Nicole's comment!
Hope you are feeling better!
