» I'm Jonesin' from Inside Allan's Mind
After reading Alison's latest entry about how much she loves mayonnaise, and dipping French fries in it, I want some so bad I can taste them. I learned to love them when I was in France in April. After reading [Read More]

I like my mayo with artichokes. Yum....

Allan

Most of my young life, I didn't like mayonnaise. I only developed a taste for it as an adult.

But I would still avoid it for fear of the cholesterol and saturated fat content.

And the idea of dipping fries in it seemed so weird (I'm a ketchup kind of guy).

But when I visited you in France and finally tried it on fries, I must say I was hooked.

I also like dipping fries in the leftover sauce from a serving of mussels.

Typical summer Saturday night salad growing up was simple: sliced tomatoes fresh out of the garden, and mayo.

I've never much cared for raw tomatoes, but ooooh, the mayo!

On fries? Veddy good. Also on a spoon, occasionally.

Allan

On Ritz Crackers, too.

But then, everything tastes better when it's sittin' on a Ritz!

Jo Ann

Sort of mayo related. Fries are wonderful dipped in tartar sauce.

Alison

Oh, yeah, I LOVE tartar sauce, too!

Allan

A this moment, I am eating a tomato and mayonnaise sandwich. On toast.

Thanks for lunchtime inspiration folks.

When we were kids... mayonnaise sammitches on fresh white bread for snacks. Yum. (I think maybe that means we were poor.)

Oh, and that imposter "Miracle Whip" crap isn't' even allowed in my fridge!

Jay

Mayo is for BLT's,Turkey and Chicken sandwiches only! But I promise to try it on "freedom fries"! *LOL*

I only like mayo for onion rings and a bit on my cheeseburger. But I can understand why you can like mayo with fries.

melanie

yep. avacados on sandwiches with mayo, but in the hollows? dude. not good.

i used to work with a gentleman, i use the term loosely, from spain, who grew up in denmark, ate his fries that way all the time. I tried it. and liked it. but not every time.

i guess i am just a ketchup kinda gal. ;-)

Alison,
I'm not sure that this is the right place to let u know that I enjoy reading your blog when i think of it!! It's such a great way to transmit where u are at!!! Keep the photos coming. Look forward to catching up in private but until then; Bon courage for want of a better expression!

Philip

Man, if you just deep fat fried that sucker, you'd have enough calories for the whole week.

Margaret

Artichokes and mayo are both greasy--maybe that's why you don't like them together. I am a big fan of artichokes, but not as crazy about mayo. I love mustard, horseradish, wasabi, etc..

angel

Hmmm i love fry dippin in mayo!! i do that all the time now... mayo on asparagus too... Yummmy.

Patrick

It no longer takes a trip to Mexico to satisfy my craving. Mexican restaurants in the city are serving corn on the cob, often with mayonnaise.
