» Alison's name the cat contest from She Who Will Be Obeyed!
You must go over to AliThinks and watch the video of the new kittens - one of whom has no name yet. He's a very cute, black kitten. Maybe Fuzz would be a good name - that's all I can... [Read More]

Allan

Surprise, surprise, surprise!

Now I know why Sumatra was so scared.

Names? How about Shadow, Midnight, Oil Slick, or George?

Rod

How about 11:45PM? get it? not quite midnight with the white spot?? ok, nevermind.

Earl?

I've always liked the name Pyewacket (from the Jimmy Stewart/Kim Novak movie Bell, Book and Candle), but that's just me.

How about PITA, "Pain In The Ass"... It worked for one of my co-workers and her daughter. She is Pita Baby Miller. Actually, that is what we call her, and now that she is old enough, she calls herself Pita. I'm not really sure what her given name is, though Pita is quite fitting... white carpet, purple ink pad, bare feet... you do the math.

Alison

PITA sounds like a great name to me, Little Mike...uh...William!

Heimo

What about Bhaghira? (the Mowgli Panther) - Pita sounds also good - but I wouldn't call my cute little cat 'pain in the ass' - instead I would call her Peeta - sounds the same, but different written - anyway: the cat wouldn't know the difference, as long as it's an-alphabetic..

Margaret

Ombre, Minuit, Noir...

Alison's daughter

I like Shadow. Or Réglisse.

Yibbyl

Shadow was also the first name that came to my mind. But I, too, like Pita (if it's descriptive) and a shortened version of another of Allan's...Slick. Also, you could pay a little homage to Hoyt Axton and name him Kalamazoo.

I like Margaret's suggestion of Noir, my cousin used to have a beautiful black cat that she named that. She also had a beautiful siamese cat (male) that she named Vyvyan, after the character from "The Young Ones". I always liked that one too.

Some other suggestions: Coal (or you could go with "Cole" instead), Onyx, Raven, Ebony, Inky (though then he sounds like he's named after one of the ghosts from Pac-Man), and I also liked the suggestion of "Slick" as short for Oil Slick.

Ta fille a une tres bonne idee; il faut qu'elle visite ce blog canadien: http://reglisse.blogspot.com/

As you know I have a solid black cat (female) named Luci. My beloved always wanted a black cat named Lucifer so when we got a female she became Luci.

angel

I like Noir as well.

Ooh my first cat was solid black & i named him black opium [after my favorite incense, hey i was a pot smoking freshman okay?] but called him Opie. always a cute name.
you may also steal my precious baby's name - Torin. cute silly nick names of tor-tor. :p

Danny G.

My last black cat was called Pante (from pantera, panther)
Pita is a cool name too :-)
