All I can say is yee-ha, woo-hoo, and ROCK-N-ROLL, baby!
And no, I'm not in a good mood.
It's been an interesting week here in Small Town, France.
Une semaine rock and roll, as the French say. Don't ask me what the hell it means. I'm in no state to translate. To my imprecise mind, it means a week with lots of things going on, lots of ups and downs, and no time to smell the roses.
And it's not just me. Alain, a math teacher who's about my age, said that the week had been a tough one.
Alain is cool. He shaves his head and likes music. On Tuesday morning we arrived in the parking lot at the same time. I got out of my car and mentioned the singer I'd been listening to in the car.
"Hey, " I said, "do you know Jeff Buckley?"
Alain smiled and said "I saw him in concert at L'Olympia in 1995."
This morning, Alain left some Jeff Buckley stuff in my pigeonhole: Two CDs, Last Goodbye and Live at Sin-é, and a DVD, Live in Chicago. He also left a Van Morrison CD, Astral Weeks, so that I could listen to the original of "The Way Young Lovers Do," which Jeff Buckley performed at Sin-é.
I have no idea where this post is going. I guess I just want to say that it was sweet to get some music in my pigeonhole. I think I'll lend the Garden State soundtrack to Alain. If I can find it. My desk is a mess.

There are very few songs that beat the beauty of Buckley's cover of Hallelujah from his Grace CD. Excellent.

Men leaving things behind in your hole sounds dirty...
Well... If you have a dirty mind like mine, it does...
