My ex-husband has gotten our son involved in roller hockey. This is recent; T. has attended three practice sessions on the weekends. Today I drove him and his sister up to where we used to live, and the four of us spent the afternoon together. The ex and I had a good talk. Apparently I'm a cooler ex-wife than I am a wife. But then I can say the same about him: he is much cooler now that we are no longer together. Go figure.
Anyway, I took some pictures at hockey practice. T. was not quite at ease, because he was wearing his street skates instead of hockey skates. Also, it was a pretty serious practice, because the older kids have a tournament game on Saturday. But I was proud of him. Then at my ex-house, I saw a video that my ex-husband shot of a previous practice. T. was really at ease on his skates, and handled the hockey stick and puck pretty darn well.
This is one proud mama.
Listening to the coach...
During an exercise where the Yellow team had to hold the stick upside down, in order to look at the opponent rather than at the floor or puck.
So it looks as if T. will be participating in this roller hockey club on weekends. He likes it. He needs to use his growing body. Something I've not done here, this year, in this new place. But then he never did practice an extra-curricular sport, ever.

Looks like fun!
I wish inline skates existed when I was that age. Or ice hockey around here for that matter.
I love to skate.

Hey, ex's always make better friends than they did partners. It gets to where you can see in your ex all the reasons why you actually fell in love for them in the first place, before everything got screwed up.
Eventually you may find yourself wondering why the hell you divorced when you can communicate so well, but nonetheless still glad that you did.
Life is sometimes weird like that, I suppose.
As long as it remains fun - I look forward to watching my sons at sports.
Be smiling.

Ex-comment from an ex-constant reader to my ex prefered blog writer ...
I reminds me of my ex-first sport : hand ball as a ex-goal keeper.
I'm really jealous of your ability to report simple anecdots with so much feeling inside.
