This evening I went to a vernissage at a local art gallery. "Local" is the key word here, because this is a really small town. But hey, there's not much to do, the wine was free, and my friends and I had devised a code to discuss the art ("gherkin" for bad, "cornichon" for good). We were set. And did I mention the free wine?
I took my HP Photosmart 720, turned off the flash, and snapped a bunch of hipshots. In the spirit of spontaneity because I'm too fucking lazy, these photos are unadulterated.
This guy's stuff was among the better work exposed.
This gallery is located in an old cognac distillery. Check out those gherkins on the wall back there.
The guy in the red sweatshirt ended up in a lot of my photos, for some reason. (I wasn't aiming, or anything. I was talking to some people, and pressing the shutter on the camera every so often). Anyway, I heard someone greet Red Sweatshirt: "Oh, hello, Nigel!" Nigel is the quintessential English name. I challenge you to find me an American named Nigel.
I just thought this one was cool.
We're in France. There was wine. It was bad, but it was free.
Even bad wine can look pretty.

Sometimes the coolest shots come when you least expect them.
These are so cool.
Thanks for sharing them.
And Woo Hoo for free wine! ;)

love that last shot of the wine table. light falling across the table-cloth almost looks like a Vermeer background. ;-)

It looks like a perfect illustration of how someone progressively views the world at a wine tasting... ;)

OMG. Thomas! That is hilarious.
I only had one glass of bad wine. Really. ;)

Hah! Nigel is very English (not British) isn't it? I also thought that Colin was very English and then along came Colin Powell (although you guys pronounce it differently).
